Talk about a glowing success last night fundraiser was an awesome experience. I’m going to re post the pictures here and judge for yourself the bishop was in attendance the seminarians and a close to 30 or 40 of Knights, parishioners and Spanish community Click on the link below to view all the pictures from the event.
Things are coming together for the Seminarians’ Trust fundraiser with the Bishop and Seminarians. Despite the rain, we have just about everything in place.
It has been a bit of time since I have updated my BLOG so I thought I would give a few highlights:
Linda and I took Stormie back to Hot Springs and spent the weekend with Linda’s sister, Judy. We had an awesome time, enjoyed seeing Judy, Anet, and Niles. Stormie had a great two weeks with Linda and I and was a great joy to have around. Chloe and Alec went to Hot Springs with us and had a blast at the Mid-America Science Museum. The museum alone was worth the trip! Alec had a blast building, what I think, would be his dream house!
Linda has fallen in love with our new carpet and living room! That made a massive change in how our house looks!
Michael and Felicia are in their last two weeks in Tulsa. They are moving to Houston, where Felicia will be going to college. Michael will probably continue working with WalMart as a Pharmacy Tech. He is loving this job and we hope to see them a few more times before they make their way to Houston.
Speaking of jobs, Matthew will be back at EMSA soon! He completed his coursework for Paramedic and is certified now. He will be starting the new Academy next week! Congratulations, Matthew.
Jose’ is home now and is getting his life back on track. We missed Jose’ and are praying for his success.
My former Father-In-Law, Lehman Jones, was hospitalized and is undergoing treatment and testing. Lehman is 84 and is need of prayers. Lehman and Patti were long time parishioners of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and now attend St. Pius X. My friend, Fr. Boniface, O.S.B. has graciously offered Masses for his healing, for which I, Lehman and Patti are very grateful. Lehman taught at Tulsa Community College up until the Summer term. I pray that he will regain his health sufficiently to return to the classroom.
Drew should be returning to St. Gregory’s soon as a Proctor in the Honor’s Hall.
This year’s Mass and March for Life was a resounding success! The speakers were fantastic, the Honor Guard was incredible, and we actually had the media there! I included a few pictures of the media that were present, notably from Channel 6, Channel 23, and KFAQ.
More will be uploaded later.
Mass for Life & 2nd Tulsa March for Life
Abortion was legalized in the United States 38 years ago this month. Since then over 50 million babies have lost their lives to abortion. Pray for an end to abortion and join Most Rev. Bishop Edward J. Slattery who will celebrate the Mass for Life at Holy Family Cathedral at 10am on January 22, 2011. After Mass join Bishop Edward J. Slattery and participate in the 2nd Tulsa March for Life. The March starts at 11:30am at Holy Family Cathedral and ends at 6th & Boston at the Chapman Centennial Green where a rally will take place.

Deacon Kerry Wakulich will be ordained to the Priesthood for the Diocese of Tulsa next Saturday, May 29th at 10 AM at Holy Family Cathedral. Kerry was our neighbor (J.A. and Linda Arroyo’s) in East Tulsa when I went to St. Thomas More on 129th. I don’t know if I want to get into how surprised we were when he answered the call to the priesthood! Suffice it to say that I cannot imagine a more blessed addition to the Diocese of Tulsa.
Knights, of course, are encouraged to attend this Blessed Event for the Tulsa Diocese!
Yesterday, yes, Jan. 26th, the Tulsa World published an article about the March for Life held last Friday. The official estimates, published in the article, estimated that over 3,000 attended the March. I am including a link to the article for you to read. I encourage you to also read the comments to the article at the bottom. I was amazed at the lack of media attention to the march while, in most cases, if the protest would have had a dozen and was something more ‘popular’ or politically correct the media would have been all over it.
I am reposting this from the Knights of Columbus BLOG to my family Blog in hopes of bringing more attention from my family and friends as well. This is a very important issue for me and Linda and I encourage anyone to attend this Pro-Life March in Tulsa next Friday!
Abortion was legalized in the United States 37 years ago this month. Since then over 50 million babies have lost their lives to abortion. Pray for an end to abortion and join Most Rev. Bishop Edward J. Slattery who will celebrate the Mass for Life at Holy Family Cathedral at 5:00pm on January 22, 2010. After Mass join Bishop Edward J. Slattery and participate in the 1st Tulsa March for Life. The March starts at Holy Family Cathedral and ends at 6th & Boston at the new Chapman Centennial Green where a rally will take place. A rally will be held approximately 30 minutes long with three speakers. Dr. Kevin Donovan will speak on when life begins, Cynthia Carney will share her testimony of having an abortion and Dr. McCutchens from Mount Zion Baptist Church will speak how abortion has impacted the black community.
I am enclosing a pdf file of the ‘official’ poster for our first-ever Tulsa March for Life. Please feel free to download and print out a many copies as you need to:
- post this weekend around your church campus

Michael joined Knights of Columbus and has stepped up on the 3rd Degree Team (Knights have 4 Degrees – a ‘full’ Knight has taken his 1-3rd Degrees) shown above. Michael plays a part with me on the Degree Team and has proven to enjoy it and did very well. This is a great chance for father and son to share something regarding our Faith and spend time together. Michael is also Chancellor for our Council 4721. I am Deputy Grand Knight and his office is below me in the hierarchy, though barely, he is 3rd in line!
Congratulations, Michael, Dad is proud of you!
